Melantha, nickname Mela, is a merwoman. She was first married to Merwin and had Merci. After his death she married Naldo and had Nadine. She and Naldo have three possible children on Ptero, Nigel and the twins Mourning and Knight.
Melantha appears in Heaven Cent and is the main character of The Color of Her Panties. Incidentally, her panties are plaid.
